Adult MinistriesWe, at Ocean View, believe that it is possible to live in the presence and power of God right now. The good news that Jesus proclaimed was far more than the minimal entrance requirements for getting into heaven when you die. Through Jesus, we can have a relationship with God that continues to grow and develop through the years. We can become progressively more and more like Jesus as we walk with Him each day. That means that we can begin to think and feel what Jesus would think and feel if He were in our place, and consequently we can begin to do what Jesus would do.

We want to walk together through the good times and the tough times as we grown in the new life that God has given us in Jesus Christ. Specific ministries are available to help with the various challenges that life may bring our way.

Sunday Morning

Sunday Morning Bible StudyAs you read the New Testament, you come to understand the growth or transformation is a normal, expected part of our walk with Christ. But, it is not automatic. It doesn’t just happen, though it is always a matter of grace.

With that in mind, we offer adult Bible Study groups on Sunday morning at 10:05 AM with a wide range of ages represented. Participants have the option of a topical or verse-by-verse study. Regardless of what you’re looking for, we should have a place for you.

Located just outside the sanctuary in the foyer is a large Welcome / Information Counter. Each Sunday morning there are friendly, helpful individuals here waiting to help you find the class that is right for you. For more information, contact Everett Douglas, Missional Minister, at 843.449.3384.

Wednesday Night

Wednesday NightsWe offer a wide variety of adult learning options on Wednesday evening in hopes of meeting your specific needs. Each Wednesday at 6:00 or 6:30 you will have an opportunity to gather with others having similar interests to explore a topic relevant to your daily life. Many have found these studies to be not only enjoyable, but very conducive to learning, community, and life-change. Since there is a wide variety of learning options, most adults are immediately drawn to a particular study. These studies have proven attractive to both individuals who have been attending for years, as well as those who have just begun attending. We’re currently offering 3 eight-week sessions a year: winter, spring and fall. A different format is used in summer. Please join us! For more information, please contact Everett Douglas, Missional Minister, at 843.449.3384.

guardrails1.  “GUARDRAILS”

By Andy Stanley

Facilitator: Terry Scalzitti / Room C101

Guardrails. They’re everywhere, but they don’t really get much attention … until somebody hits one. And then, more often than not, it is a lifesaver.  Ever wonder what it would be like to have guardrails in other areas of your life-areas where culture baits you to the edge of disaster and then chastises you when you step across the line? Your friendships. Your finances. Your marriage. Maybe your greatest regret could have been avoided if you had established guardrails. In this six-session video-based Bible study, Andy Stanley challenges us to stop flirting with disaster and establish some personal guardrails.

By Andrew & Phyllis Le Peau

Facilitator: Steve Munyan/ Room B104

For more than two decades, the innovative and insightful LifeGuide studies have helped people learn about the Bible and comprehend the Christian life more fully. If you’re longing to go deeper in your understanding of God and his Word, this study is for you. The Bible study will meet your need for both rich, solidly-researched content and personal application. It will meet your need for Bible study that challenges your head and your heart. Part 1 is not a prerequisite for Part 2.  Everyone is welcome!

Soul keeping3.“SOUL KEEPING”

By John ortberg

Facilitator: Everett Douglas / Room C112-C113

The health of your soul isn’t just a matter of saved or unsaved. It’s the hinge on which the rest of your life hangs. It’s the difference between deep,  satisfied spirituality and a restless, dispassionate faith.  In an age of materialism and consumerism, many souls are starved and unhealthy. We’ve neglected this eternal part of ourselves, focusing instead on the temporal concerns of the world— and not without consequence. In this six-week video-based Bible study, John Ortberg sheds light on the most overlooked, underrated, and least-understood part of your being. With a workable and relevant approach, he shows how living the “with God” life isn’t just a good idea–it’s the only way to find lasting peace and satisfaction.

Led By: Stephen Hand / Choir Room

“Shout to the Lord, all the earth;
break out in praise and sing for joy!
Sing your praise to the Lord ,
with the harp and melodious song,
with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn.”

This non-auditioned group rehearses each Wednesday at 6:30-7:45 PM in the choir room. We sing hymns and songs of worship in the Traditional Service as well as a variety of challenging choral pieces. For more information on joining the choir, please email Stephen Hand with any questions E:

Senior Adult Ministries

Joy FellowshipSenior Adult Ministries, for all adults ages 55 and up.

Our group meets September through May at 12 noon, on the second Tuesday, of each of those months. We have a covered dish lunch where the meat is provided. After lunch we enjoy a program, our programs are planned well in advance. Civic leaders, doctors, choirs, guest vocalist and many more are invited.

We love to travel. We take a day trip each month and a longer trip during the summer months.

Day trips are planned to different near-by cities. We visit museums, colleges, historical and cultural sites, and other areas of interest. Good meals go along with the trips as well as wonderful fellowship and a way to get to know more church members our age. For more information, please call Jane Zaffarano at 843.449.6823 or email
