Music Ministry

Music Ministry

Shout to the Lord, all the earth;
break out in praise and sing for joy!
Sing your praise to the Lord with the hard,
with the harp and melodious song,
with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn.
Make a joyful symphony before the Lord, the King!

These are the words of King David in Psalm 98. Worship in music is a tradition that spans both the Old and New Testaments as well as the past 2000 years of church history. From the Israelites to the early church in the book of Acts, whenever God’s people gathered, there was music. At Ocean View, we view worship as a lifestyle as we seek to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth, but corporately, we worship God through songs of praise, thanksgiving, confession, and adoration. As you visit our website, you will quickly see that we view worship as a participatory activity, not merely as a spectator sport, and we aim to give as many outlets for expressions of worship through the arts in many different ways.

School of Music

School of MusicThe Ocean View School of Music is a part of the Music Ministry of Ocean View Baptist Church. Recognizing that music and the arts are gifts from God, it is our purpose to provide students with quality instruction and a means of expression for their God-given talents. In an environment where Christ is honored, students are challenged by qualified teachers to develop their unique and individual gifts for glory and service of God. Being Christian-based does not mean that all music sung of played, or works performed is to have a religious theme or be sacred in nature. It does mean that we strive to have Christian teachers whose life-styles will reflect their faith, and that they will teach from a Christian perspective.
