Connect:  Why?

Trying to discern where the Lord is leading OVBC in the next chapter of its life and ministry is a huge task.  We need your help!  How would God involve us in His work in Myrtle Beach and beyond?

One part of discovering God’s leading involves listening to our neighbors to understand what needs or challenges they face on an on-going basis. We need for you to connect with them.  If we are intentional about asking what they are struggling with, maybe they will tell us!

After you connect with your neighbor, we will pray and think over the responses you receive.  Combining those responses with other information, we hope to discern where the Lord may be leading us to put our energy and resources for work in His kingdom.

Connect:  Who?

Your neighbor is someone you already have a relationship with on some level.  You don’t need to approach complete strangers.  Your neighbor could be:

-  Someone who lives nearby
-  A coworker
-  A fellow student
-  A recreational partner
-  Someone who shares your hobbies

Connect:  How?

Your question can be asked in a deliberately arranged time or by casual happenstance.  At some point in your conversation ask about their challenges in one of the suggested ways (or phrase it in your own language):

    • “What is the greatest challenge you face on an on-going basis?”
    • “What’s difficult for you in life right now?”
    • “If you could bring calm to one area of your life, what would it be?”
    • “What needs are you having a tough time getting met?”
    • “Day in and day out, what’s the hardest thing you have to deal with?”
    • “If help was genuinely offered, what kind could you use in your life right now?”
